The Man Who Killed My Dog

When his dog Vicky was killed by a hit and run driver, Richard Josef wrote this letter to the newspaper.I hope you were going somewhere important when you drove so fast down the road on Tuesday night. Perhaps we'd feel better if we could imagine that you were a doctor crushing somewhere to deliver a baby or case somebody's pain. The life of our dog to shrten someone's suffering- that mightn't have so bad.

But even though all we saw of you was your car's shadow and its jumping tall lights we know too much about you to believe it.You saw the dog, you stepped o your rakes, you felt a thump, you heard a yelp and then my wife's scream. Your restless are good, we knew because you jumped on the accelerator again and got out fast.

You  didn't bother to look, so I'll tell you what the thump and the yelp were. They were Vicky, a six=month old Bessel puppy; white, with brown and black markings. An aristocrat, with 12 champions among her forebears, but she clowned and she chased, and she loved people and children and other dogs as much as any mongrel on the earth.

I am sorry you didn't stick around to see the job you did, though a dog dying the side of the road isn't a pretty sight. In less then two seconds you and that car of yours transformed a trying being that had been so beautiful, clean, soft and loving into something dirty, ugly and broken.

I hope to God that when you hit my dog you had for a moment the sick, dead feeling in the throat and down to the stomach that we have known since. And that you feel it whenever you think about speeding down a winding country road again.Because next time some eight year old boy might be webbing along on his first bicycle. Or a very little one might wander out past the gate and into the road in the moment in takes his father to bend down and pull out a weed, the way my puppy got away from me.Or perhaps you'll really be lucky again, and only kill another dog,and break the heart of another family.

Creativity

The Sifter spent last night pouring over hundreds of famous and inspirational quotes on creativity. Below is a collection of our 15 favourites. Let us know which ones resonate with you the most, and feel free to counter any you disagree with. There are infinite views on creativity, here are fifteen famous ones for inspiration on your next endeavour. Every child is an artist, the problem is staying an artist when you grow up. If you hear a voice within you say, ‘You cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.Have no fear of perfection, you’ll never reach it.Curiosity about life in all of its aspects, I think, is still the secret of great creative people. You can’t wait for inspiration, you have to go after it with a club.Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will. Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try.Originality is nothing but judicious imitation.Creativity comes from a conflict of ideas.Don’t think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It’s self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can’t try to do things. You simply must do things.Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because theydidn’t really do it, the just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while.Creativity is a drug we cannot live withoutYou see things; and you say, ‘Why?’ But I dream things that never were; and I say, ‘Why not’?creativity is contagious, pass it on.

Mysore Horse Park

He smiled softly and left the Mysore Horse Park that Sunday evening, the 8th
of June, with five medals- three gold, one silver and one bronze and the title of the best all- rounder in the country.Of course we will never know what went through the young Captain's mind that Sunday afternoon, he voiced a life-time wish of wanting to return to the Horse Park, just one more time.

A devilish fire claimed sixty lives in New Delhi's Uphaar Cinema on that terrible Friday the 13th june, 1997. The heroic life of Bhinder being one of sixty, not by fate, but by choice. Bhinder had a grand chance of escaping the anger of the fire, with his family, well versed as he was, in the knack of getting away from even worse situations. On Friday, when the fire surrounded the U phaar theater, Bhinder, who was there with his wife Jyoti Roop, four year old son Ruskin, and his junior Lt.Rajesh Pattu, sent Pttu to bring some help. He chose to stay in the fire, trying to help women and children out. His last words were to Pattu. He told him that he wanted to stay on. The family disappeared in the fire. Bhinder leaves his father sadar vardeep singh, mother and three sisters, God knows, Bhinder was young, had a lovely family and life full of promises. He had more reasons, than most of us, to live. He had a dream of winning a gold at the next

Asian games. One of the few riders to take part in the three events riding,
shooting and tent-pegging. It is indeed difficult to believe that he is no longer
with us. And that he'll never be, back at that Horse Park. Binder's death is
not just the loss of a champion sportsman, he will be remembered as a rare
soldier who sacrificed his life, so that others may live Good bye champ. Rest
in peace.

People Rule

  We do not say
that a man who takes no interest in politics
  minds his own business;
we say he has no business here at all.

"The Law" casts a large shadow over American life. Politics is part of that world since Congress makes, the President and his Administration enforce, and the courts interpret federal law. When each branch of government "checks and balances" the other, the system is functioning the way the founding fathers designed it.

Bitter disagreements can exist within, and between, the three branches.  It’s a world frequently characterized by high tension, short tempers and large egos. Americans have always heard about political clashes, and legal wrangling, in the daily news.

As long as government generally leaves people alone, Americans live their daily lives without thinking much about the system which holds the country together. But when government gets too intrusive, or imposes restrictions with which the people disagree, Americans have a long history of raising their collective voices.

In days past, how did people react when the long arm of the law touched their lives? Did they think the hand at the end of that arm was heavy? Interfering? Helpful? Unwanted?

To answer those questions, we can examine evidence like political cartoons and newspaper headlines. If we want to know how people lived, and what was important to them, we look at the record they left behind.

Let’s randomly examine some of the American record from the last 275 years. If you think law and politics is a rough profession now, take a snapshot view of what it was like then! And if you believe American activists are vocal now, think about how this country became independent!

Why People Move

It seems like world is becoming smaller and smaller almost by the minutes. When I was a child I could not imagine to meet someone from another part of the planet. However, now I have a few friends from Africa, I can meet many Chinese people on the streets, have dinner at a Mexican restaurant, buy some delicious cookies at a cafe run by the French. It is really wonderful and amazing to see people from all over the world, communicate and work with them. I agree with those people who move a number of times throughout their lives. However, I believe that people who spend their entire lives in one place have many advantages too. First of all, I will focus on the reasons why I support the idea about moving and then I will move on to analyzing the opportunities that people have staying at one place.

Personally, I think that the first and most obvious reason to move from one place to another is to see the world. Of cause, this can be obtained by traveling. Nevertheless, traveling does not give the opportunity to immersed into traditions, customs and just the way of life of the country. It is like seeing beautiful looking boots on a show-window and does not try them on to see if they are comfortable.

The second reason for moving is the opportunity to gain new experience and knowledge. One can meet new people and new friends, extend one's range on interests. Also, one can find a better job, life conditions and even climate. For example, my husband like warm and sunny weather. So his dream is to live here in Texas a half of the year and move to Australia for another half of the year to catch warm months. One more example, my aunt does not feel good in sultry and humid weather. So she had to move several times to find a place where she feels comfortable.

From the other side, this way of life has some disadvantages. For instance, it is difficult to make a good career if one is constantly moving. Of cause, it does not concern celebrities on their tours. Also, it is not good for children because they will have to change their schools a few times.

Staying in one place has a plenty of advantages too. I must confess that I am closer to the people who do not move much. I prefer to have a permanent home with my old and favorite things, have a dog and a beautiful view from the window.

In conclusion, I think that every person is always looking for something better than he already has. So, if people live in one place through their entire lives it means that they are looking for something else.

The World Zoo

I think that the question about whether a zoo has no useful purpose is the one that is open for debate. It is a topical question nowadays. Some people believe that a zoo has an essential and cognitive purpose. However, other people believe that a zoo has no useful purpose and people should observe wild animals in their nature. Personally, I think that both options have their advantages. In the following paragraphs I will analyze these points and present my own view in favor of people who think that
animals should not be kept in a zoo.

From the one side, a zoo has many benefits for people. First of all, children can learn about animals not only from books and TV programs but from actually watching them alive. They can see animals, touch them and even feed them. I think it is an amazing experience for a child. He gains more knowledge and experience
from this "communication" with an animal. Second of all, a zoo is a perfect place for adults to see many animals that people are not able to see in their lives.

However, from the other side, I keep asking myself "What kind of
benefits wild animals have from a zoo?". Unfortunately, I can not find any of them. I think that wild animals should live in their nature environment. Moreover, I think that we should observe them through TV programs sitting in our favorite chairs, or people who like danger should try to observe them in the native environment. I think that animals are not toys. I know that most
zoos try to keep their animals in the environment which is close to their native, but they can not give them as much freedom as animals want to.

I hope all like to visit zoo.I have written about zoo i hope all will like.To sum up, I think that wild animals should not be kept in a zoo. Personally, I enjoy more watching "Discovery Channel" then watching a black bear who does not know where to hide from the scorching sun in a Texas zoo. I hope all are watching.

World Dancing

Dancing is one of the ancient means of communication. People of every country have their own national music and dances. In old times people perform special rituals to make bad spirits go away and ask gods for fertile soil, good harvest, health and good weather. So, dancing plays an important role in a culture. Moreover, dancing of a particular country reflects its traditions, customs and history. In the following paragraphs I will give my reasons to support my answer.

First of all, the reason why dancing of a particular country is so unique because many art forms are put together. People need music, costumes, singers to perform, players and of cause dancers. Each of these art forms is unique and singular for every country. In old times people gathered to celebrate or mourn and every occasion had its own music and costumes. For example, ancient tribes painted their faces with ugly and strange patterns, put on colorful clothes and make strange movements around the fireplace.

Second of all, dancing is a combination of body movements that are peculiar for every nation. People of different nations have different bodily movements because dancing is one of the first means of communication. People differently express their feelings such as happiness, sadness, joy and sorrow though movements of their bodies.

To sum up, I think that dancing keeps people's traditions alive through the ages.Dance yes, Love next,Dance yes, Love next
Mr Worldwide, and the world's most beautiful woman
Modern day Hugh He Playboy to the death Is he really worldwide? Mami let me open your treasure chest Play dates, we play mates I'm the king at snatching queens, checkmate What you think? It's a rumor I'm really out of this world Moon, Luna Make woman comfortable Call me bloomer Can't even show love cause they'll sue ya But I told them, 'hallelujah, have a blessed day' So ahead of myself Every day's yesterday Want the recipe? it's real simple Little bit of vol, and she'll open sesame

Human Nature and Relationships

A number of years ago I was perusing in meditation the nature of all the relationships I had ever known in my life as the result of another relationship ending. In my searching for answers, I suddenly realized that there are but three aspects which governed and defined all the relationships I have known. Much to my chagrin, I realized I have known these truths from way back in the beginning. More appallingly, I also realized how much I have lacked in my ability to apply the truths which I know to my life in a successful manner.

To the end of describing and defining for myself, (being an engineer who expresses and best presents his thoughts with pictures and sketches), I set about putting the pictures I was seeing in my mind on paper...

These sketches are presented below in the order that I perceived them, one developing from the other, and undoubtedly still not totally defined or described in any degree of completeness.First, I needed to ask myself a question or two, like why was I or anyone else in a relationship? And the answer, of course, is to satisfy our physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs, and not necessarily our wants.

The flip side of that, again, is that if I am to have a satisfying relationship with another person to satisfy and fulfill my needs, then the responsibility for creating and maintaining the relationship rests with me, not the other person. Why? Their needs may already be met in the status quo, and they therefore perceive no need for change or growth.

I also needed to make some definitions to help my understanding of this fact: All Relationships, with One's Own Self, with Others, and with One's Higher Power, are governed by but three fundamental aspects. All right, now that I have these definitions out of the way, the first sketch where I was trying to visualize the inter-relatedness of these aspects.

If you will look at the triangle and realize its importance, you will see that all the aspects move together, increasing or decreasing proportionately as one or the other of the aspects increase or decrease. An understanding of this relationship is a tool we can use to keep our relationships healthy and vibrant, growing to fulfillment.

Now most will say that this looks complicated, it is not, we have all used this tool... Did you ever walk into a place, see someone, become interested in that individual? First thing that happens, we move closer, we say, "My golly, you have beautiful ______, I really like ______ !" ... Of course this is something the other would want to create a reality about. So we have Agreement. Next we started talking, Communicating about the agreement, and sure enough we now have found an Affinity, and we have Created a Relationship, temporary or permanent as the case may be, depending on the further development of the three aspects.

However....... I found the problem that I have had in the maintenance of relationships, is that I did not understand how to properly apply this tool..."Well, what am I supposed to do then?" "Do one of the other two.. do something LOVING, or Create a new Reality in something you KNOW the other wants to create as a Reality"..."Oh!"After all, we have seen that the three aspects move together, increasing and decreasing proportionately ... Strange concept, do something Loving and get more Communication AND Reality. Who would have thought it??

As noted in the sketch, Relationships are founded on four planes, Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, and Spiritual, most often on the physical plane first with the other planes developing in time as communication continues, as new affinities and realities are established. In truth, all relationships contain to some degree all the planes, and the area of the base of the pyramid bounded by the four planes is a measure of the completeness of the relationship.

On the Emotional plane are the awareness of body language, the symbiosis of sympathy and empathy, of honest care and concern for the other . It is extremely important that we be emotionally available to our partner in a relationship. It is probably the greatest failing of men, who generally have learned to suppress feelings from an early age. We must all learn to not invalidate the others feelings. They are theirs and are real to them. They may be mis-emotions and feelings, but they are valid nonetheless.

On the Physical plane are all the bonding mechanisms of sexuality that exist, man to man, woman to woman and man to woman. On the Spiritual plane perhaps the greatest communication with a partner is the acceptance that each individual must come to spiritual maturity in their own manner, that each is recognized as a Child of the Creator, and that their perception and understanding is valued, acknowledged and validated. Their perception should never be invalidated, but may be led to greater understanding and maturity by example.

It also might be said that if the relationship were to exist on only one plane, it would be shallow indeed. It can be said, in truth, that if any one of the three aspects, Communication, Affinity, or Reality, is missing there is no relationship on that plane, and if missing on all four planes, the relationship ceases to exist in its entirety. The aspect need not be the same on all four planes, just one broken link on each plane.

One other thing I might mention is that a totally negative relationship is as valid as a totally positive relationship, as long as the needs of the parties are being met.. for instance, the relationship between a masochist and a sadist, or between two people who totally hate and detest each other .... Not that I would recommend it, but they are valid. And all relationships contain to some degree, negative and positive attitudes and conditions. The conflict is what precedes and encourages growth.

From these things we can see that all Relationships are temporary at best, and to have any continuity at all, they must be created and re-created over and over again, sometimes on a minute to minute basis, as we communicate completely, establishing the realities and affinities to satisfy our physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs.

Next I asked myself why have I acted and reacted in thus and so manner, and it took a lot of searching to begin to understand that I and everyone else is governed by a set of Laws, so to speak, the Laws of Human Nature. These are demonstrable and repeatable.I realized that the motions and laws could be depicted as a pair of wheels counter-rotating as if cross belted, in actuality two sets of wheels to describe the actions and reactions we perceive.

It can be demonstrated that the mind processes of mankind proceed invariably in the sequence as numbered, over and over again, sometimes whirling faster, sometimes slower, but always in motion, never at rest, until the passage to the Spiritual Syndrome.. and then continuing on as spiritual growth is sought and achieved...never-ending learning, growth, consolidation, and rest, then continuing on until completion of spiritual maturity and transcendence into the ONE.

Obviously then, if your are here reading this and I am here typing it, the truth must be recognized that we are not, not one of us, spiritually mature, we have not transcended. We still have a lot to learn Finally, we see the Wheel of the Spiritual Syndrome ... the Laws of Spiritual Nature created by Universal Spirit, Unconscious to Mankind for the most part. We become more increasingly aware of their Presence and Truth as we Spiritually mature, as we come to Rest in the ONE.

As I have said at other times, these also are things that I know
Peace and happiness are available in every moment. Peace is in every step.We shall learn to walk hand in hand. There are no political or theological solutions to spiritual problems. There is no religion higher than TRUTH.Remember, If the Creator put it there, it is in the right place. The soul would have no rainbow if the eyes had no tears I know that All must be brought into the Sacred Hoop for it to be mended. I often wonder how we will bring those who do not see even the simplest of Circles into the greatest Circle of all. Then I remember it is a thing that has been promised by Spirit.

My Motherland

It is pure grace in the mother’s mind which is instinctive and never artificial that makes her divine. The man has to move heaven and earth to achieve this divine character.

The love that a woman bestows on her child is subtler and purer than the love she professes to have for her husband in a given moment. If a woman is asked to choose between her husband and her child, she would prefer the child with its attendant responsibilities rather than the protection of the husband. Women will not forsake her child whatever the other attractions and
inducements she is offered in her life. It is this natural grace of motherhood in a woman that finds the first mention in the Sahasranama (thousand names of Devi) as Sri Mata.

In the stories of Devi in any Indian language—She is called simply mother. Other attributes adorn her and extol this aspect of motherland.Even the awakening in the minds of masses of India for attaining independence was made in the name of Bharata Mata.Whatever are the achievements of a woman as a leader, as musician, as an athlete, as a sports woman, as a high officer or as a politican her pride as a mother is unique and unequalled. It is found in our shastras and puranas that who ever disgrace a woman falls irretrievably from grace of the Lord and loses all prosperity in this world and in the other.Women must keep this truth in their minds and make their lives worthy of this great honour and be blessed of divine grace.

My motherland is India. It is a great country. It is the land of holy men and brave men. It is the land of great thinkers and writers. The name of the Buddha and Mahavir, Ashok and Rana Pratap, Narasinha Mehta and Mirabai, Kalidas and Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Nehru, will live for ever. India is the land of Vedas, the ‘Ramayana’ and the ‘Mahabharata’.

The world’s highest mountains are in India. They are the Himalayas. The world’s purest river is in India. It is the Ganga. The world’s most beautiful building is in India. It is the Taj Mahal. The Gir Forest is the home of lion. The scenery of Kashmir is heavenly. The Ajanta caves and the Rameshvaram Temple are world-famous. I am proud of India.India is the largest democracy in the world. It is very poor. The people do not have good food, clothes, shelter and education. Our duty is to serve India.

India is my country, my motherland. I love it and I am proud of it. India is a big country. In population it is second only to China. India has a rich and glorious past. Once it was the seat of learning. Students from all over the world used to come here to study. Indian culture spread abroad. Indian goods had a ready market in foreign countries. It was a time when India was a land of plenty.

Times changed. India fell on evil days. Wave after wave of invaders came and plundered India. India became a slave country. 'The foreign rulers exploited her as much as they could. India became independent in 1947. The foreign rulers went away. Under the able leadership of Pt. Nehru the country marched towards progress. New industries were set up. Trade increased. There were difficulties in the beginning. Kashmir was overrun by the tribals. There were communal riots Millions of people were uprooted from their homes.

India is the largest democracy of the world. We Indians enjoy freedom of speech, worship and press. All citizens have equal rights. India is rich in natural resources, yet her inhabitants are poor. The mineral wealth of the country is unexplored. Under the Union Government, new industries are being set up.

Already Indian goods are being exported to other countries. New methods of agriculture are being used to increase food production. She has already become self-sufficient in food. In the field of science and literature, India has produced eminent people like Rabindra Nath Tagore, Sir C.V.Raman, Sir Jagdish Chandra Bose and Shri H.N.Bhabha.

India is a peace loving country but she has to spend a huge amount on defence because there is danger from her neighbors, namely Pakistan and China. The present Government under the new Prime Minister is trying to befriend them. India is a land of villages with many languages but there is unity in diversity. Ours is a secular state and all religions flourish side by side.

My country abounds in glorious historical buildings and scenes. There is not a tourist who does not visit the Taj Mahal — the symbol of eternal love or Kashmir, the heaven on earth. My country is a land of temples, mosques and churches, great rivers and vast fertile plains of the Ganges and the highest mountain of the world. It is the land where civilization first blossomed in the world. Our fields are fed with perennial waters of the rivers.India is my first love and I would readily lay down my life for it if need be.

Poetry in our time

Change in society is a common phenomenon, and it is very interesting to watch these changes from a distance. As a writer, one might be astonished at these changes and sometimes it becomes difficult to walk with society. The middle class comprises the major power in society, and it takes the lead in its own way. Nowadays when politics and literature are making place for the other two classes, the middle class is quietly changing its path. These days everywhere, in the train, in the bus or in airplanes, you find people talking about spiritualism, philosophy and Yoga and what not. It seems that every person has some knowledge of Ayurveda and Yoga. Spiritualism is now so much in fashion that every one is rushing to attain spiritual knowledge, which is leading the masses to pseudo spiritualism. I agree that spiritualism is not a wrong path, and it may help society, but I am worried about its pseudo nature.
Devotion or spiritualism has its importance in literature, a number of great Indian writers were great religious leaders, but their devotion came directly from their heart and their voices were always heard against terror, domination or cruelty. Their devotion was against the cruelty of society towards the woman. When Similar talks about spiritualism, he was in reality breaking all the odds of society. Spiritualism is not for a single soul, it is for society and the entire humankind, and leads to nature. It is not to make ourselves dumb; it should release our inner voice. And that inner voice should be the voice of every soul on earth. It is not an exercise to tone our body to look more attractive, but it is to train ourselves in favor of society. It could be more than what I think or feel, and I still want to learn a lot about it. I am not sure whether literature can find the right path in such confusing situations but I am sure, literature will not be affected. .As a writer I should observe and learn; I wish I could get fresh perspectives from people who are down to earth. I wish I were able to learn a few things from those who still derive their strength from within themselves. But I have a feeling that I am left behind. I only pray and wish that literature will not be affected by pseudo spirituality and will seek out the real and right path in this seemingly Dark Age of false values and beliefs.
As a leaf Draft and fragile You fall With huge silent pain You break off you let go you throw You lie down on the air You oscillate you drown you break yourself  With endless strength You avoid the wind. You hurl on the earth Heavy Released by the promise to bring fruit And you dissolve Unarmed this way In the divine light of the sunset. Tell me only a word, And this disease. That grips my soul This doubt, That wears out my nights, This pain That blunts the mind and Melts my thoughts In the sharp flame of the forget fulness Will be able at the end to disappear, To shatter as a hostile armyIn front of the gun liberator.
Tell me only a word And let the air. The meadows and the skies speak Of a miracle, That in a distant once - They will say -Has saved from the madness. The soul of a woman. That won love ,That lost memory, That erased scent, That soothed voice, That not more repeated act, That empty space. And that useless hour. You My little soul, Don’t resign To lose And I die, With you As a captain With the ship Sinking.
A winter day,She went down the stairs Till the middle of earth. And finding only Cold and dark and stones,She came back on surface. With a jump,She was in the immense sky And finding only Perfect light and immobility,She came back on earth.Balanced,With a leg buried. And an arm in air,She wore out for love, On the jagged line. And so long Of the endless horizon. It hisses,Softly,Creeping,Backwardly. In the dark depths Of tormented soul.A thin Breeze, That tastes of ocean, And a life.At last i enjoyed it. i hope all of you will enjoy.

We all are one

This brings out the idea that idea that are all one thought we speak different languages, consume different foods and follow different customs.

Our country is made up of three physical divisions. The northern part of India extends from the Himalayas to the Vindhya mountains. The area from the Vindhya mountains in the   northern part of Krishna river is called the Deccan Plateau. The area to the south Plateau, from the Krishna river to Kanyakumari, is like a peninsula. These three divisions have been the play-fields of Indian
history. Many efforts have been made to join the south with the north. But very few have succeeded. Sage was the first to cross the Vindhyas and impart his message to the people in the south. Lord Rama crossed the vindhyas to attack Lanka. Rama had created unity between the north and the south. This unity remained even during the Mahabharata.
The kings of the south had attended the yagna of Yudhishtira. They had also participated in the Kurukshetra war. The north as well as the south was under the rule of Chandragupta, Ashoka, Vikramaditya and the Mughals. But this unity did not last long. Whenever selfish, weak kings came to the throne, this unity was broken.

Hatred and internal strife are powerful in India today. Even big rivers and hills found in this country, divied the country into different parts. In a way they create the felling of regionalism. Ours is a large country. The climate of Kashmir is similar to the climate in central Asia. The physical features of the people in Kanyakumari are similar to that of the people of srilanka. Whilethere are heavy rains in Cherrapunji, the Thar desert hardly gets any rain.Ther is vast different in te food and dress habits of the people of india because of the climate. We cannot sideline these different and have a national mannerism. It roti and dhal is made the national food, then the Punjabis wil be happy. But the people of Bihar and Bengal will be unhappy, Similarly, if slippers are made compulsory for all Indians, then the Kashmirs will be in trouble, because it is not possible to climb the hills wearing slippers.

There are many languages in our country. This has made us strangers. If a north Indian goes to the south, he will face the problem of language. The different languages are an obstacle to our national unity. Thanks to device given by science, we can easily cross any river or hill. If there is right in one part of the country we can send food grains form the other parts.

Every country has its own cultural features. Africans are black while Indians are not drak. We may wear European dresses. But we are easily identified when we are among Englishmen. We do not easily mix with people of other countries. Indians have their own identify. This is the specialty of Indian culture. We all should grow like a tree.

Balidhan

Balidhan is a historic tragic story. Maharana Rajasimha, the King of Udaipur, was a brave King. Chudavath was his commander in chief. Chudavath had married the priness of Hadavamsha just four days back. The story brings out, on the one hand, the bravery of chudavath and, on the other, the sacrifice of Hadirani.

This story took place during the rule of Auranhzeb, the Mughal ruler. Auranhgzeb wanted to marry the priness of Roopnagar. But the priness wanted to marry the prince of Udaipur. She sent a letter to the prince explaining the situation. Rajasimha, the prince's father, called a meeting of his court to discuss the matter. But no courtier came forward with anysuggestion. Finally, Chudavath suggested that half the army could go with the king to Roopnagar and after the marriage of the prince come back to M ewar, while the other half could go and stop Aurangzeb. All the courties accepted this suggestion. After the court was dismissed. Chudavath went towards his house. He was prepared to die for his country but was worried about his wife.

Hadirani, Chudavath's wife, was a Kshatriya. She knew her duty. She wanted to save the prinecess of Roopnagar from the Mughal ruler. After Chudavath left with the army to fight Aurangzeb, she began to think about her husband.  Her husband was hesitant to go to the battlefield leaving her. Hadirani did not like this attitude of her husband. As she was immersed in these thoughts, a messenger came from Chudavath. He said that his master was restless. He wanted her to give somthing as a token so that he could fight with a firm mind. Hadirani realized that as long as she was there, Chudavath would not be able to discharge his duty. She thought for a moment and took a sword and severed her head. Seeing this extraordinary sacrifice the messenger was filled with fervour. He took her head and came running towards Chudavath.

As soon as Chudavath saw the head he was filled with pride and veneration for his wife. He hung her sacred head round his neck began to fight. This sacrifice of Hadirani is worth writing in golden letters. Even the flames of Jouhar will extinguish before this sacrifice of Hadirani.
